As with any project, it starts with an idea which soon begins to take shape, and can become a momentous task if allowed and dedication sets in. I thought of project 365 while sitting outside across the street from the Fairmount Hotel in my hometown of San Jose Ca. I had just finished a meeting inside of the hotel when I walked across the street to my car. As I was about to unlock the door to get in I noticed some teenagers riding skateboards and doing some seriously dangerous tricks. While I stared a bit and realized that I wasn’t in such a hurry so I walked closer to where they where and took a seat on a park bench. I was amazed at their raw talent but still thought I was going to see a broken limb any minute and prepared to assist these out of controls teens if needed while completely fascinated at their skill and lack of fear as I had for them.
If only I had my camera! I did have a camera on my iPhone but their distance and speed was making the images blurred. However, if I had my dSLR (digital single lens reflex) camera, I would have taken a few shots I would have enjoyed. I know there are teens in every city across the globe riding skateboards, but these dudes where really good. One of my thoughts were of a few moments of this enjoyment, I could use a mind getaway like this on a daily basis.
While walking back to my car I realized that every city in every nation at any given time in day or night has something exciting to see, but who is prepared to capture and share some of the simple pleasures we see on these daily basis. Project 365 entered my thoughts as a way to be prepared for daily lifestyles we all could share in. From this day to one year I’m going to carry my camera with me. If I see anything that I feel is worth getting an image of, I will. However, this could be a monumental task and perhaps I should invite some others along for this ride. Also what should the parameters be or should there even be parameters?
For now I won’t worry about details, I’ll let the chips (images) fall where they may and sit back and watch what happens!
