Portraiture is the capture by means of photography or drawing/painting of the likeness of a person or a small group of people (a group portrait), in which the face and expression is predominant. The objective is to display the likeness, personality, and even the mood of the subject. Like other types of portraiture, the focus of the photograph is the person’s face, although the entire body and the background may be included. A portrait is generally not a snapshot, but a composed image of a person in a still position.
I like natural photographed portraits whether they have make up enhancements as in many fashion or runway shots, or not. But this is not to say I don’t like post edited shots that smooth and blend skin tones or remove blemishes or other natural issues a person may have, there is a place for creative perspectives of course, and I’m sure under certain circumstances I will do so as well.
